Integrated Smart Array Controller
This chapter provides an overview of the Compaq Integrated Smart Array
Controller and its functions within the Compaq ProLiant DL580 server.
Features
The Compaq Integrated Smart Array Controller is a dual-channel Ultra2 SCSI
array controller. Both channels support low voltage differential (LVD) SCSI
devices.
The controller supports the following features:
■ 16-MB total memory with 8-MB read-ahead cache
■ 32-bit PCI bus master interface
■ RAID 0, RAID 0+1, RAID 1, RAID 5, and disk fault tolerance
(for internal drives only)
■ Support for up to four internal Wide Ultra2 or Ultra3 SCSI hot-plug
hard drives
■ Support for an external tape drive only (RAID 0 only) through the
external SCSI connector on the rear panel
■ Easy-to-use Array Configuration Utility
■ Option ROM Configuration for Arrays
■ Performance monitoring, Pre-Failure Notification, and Pre-Failure
